Neil Sharma MD

President of Parkview Health

As Medical Director of the GI Oncology program, he has overseen the program's exponential growth and collaboration with physicians at Indiana University and throughout the region. It has advanced research and fostered initiatives in multidisciplinary care. Dr. Sharma has pioneered medical trials, introduced novel surgical procedures, and developed multidisciplinary patient care. Dr. Sharma also developed a universal presentation for all patients with foregut GI cancers via tumor board during this time period to advance and ensure true multidisciplinary care. In 2014, he established Parkview's first patient- and disease-centered clinic, in which multiple specialists saw a patient concurrently.

Dr. Sharma is committed to medical advancement and currently serves on the faculty of Indiana University School of Medicine and as a fellowship director for Parkview Health. He lectures and presents nationally, has served on the faculty of numerous conferences, and was a member of the American College of Gastroenterology's National Practice Management Committee. Additionally, he is a distinguished member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He also serves on the American Cancer Society's Indiana state board.
